Common questions
Do I need a permit to clear land?
Often. Most Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley cities protect trees from 20 cm in diameter at 1.4 m (Surrey from 30 cm), and several require an erosion and sediment control permit before clearing, grading or grubbing on larger sites. In the Township of Langley that applies to a developable area over 2,000 m². Check the page for your municipality.
Can I bring in fill to raise the site?
Usually only with a permit. Most municipalities have a soil deposit bylaw with their own thresholds, and in the Agricultural Land Reserve placing fill needs an exemption, a Notice of Intent or an approved application from the Agricultural Land Commission. Construction and demolition waste, concrete and asphalt are prohibited as fill in the ALR.
What happens to the trees and brush?
PCE can grind cleared wood on site, and removes stumps and roots during grubbing.
Do you take on smaller jobs?
When the schedule allows. Between big projects PCE fits in land clearing, stump removal, farm driveways and similar work close to home in Langley and the Fraser Valley.
